Documentary credits work in the following manner: the customer presents a specific goods import request at a set price and according to the specifications of a domestic or international source. The bank then carries out the deputy task, on behalf of the merchant, of completing the import operation with the verification of documents referring to the shipment of the required goods from the international source or from the local market.
